About Us

Who Are We?

We are a volunteer organization that primarily creates quilts and blankets for all newborns at Mason General Hospital in Shelton, Washington. We also take on other projects for these babies, such as hats, booties, socks and baby toys. We quilt, crochet, knit and embroider.

When Do We Meet?

We meet twice a month throughout the year on the second and fourth Tuesday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. We also go on occasional field trips.

The meetings are casual - many come and go throughout the day. Bring whatever supplies you need to work on your projects (sewing machine, etc.). We eat lunch together, so pack a lunch. There is coffee available.

Where Do We Meet?

We have been meeting at Faith Lutheran Church since November 2021. It is located at1212 Connection St. in Shelton, WA.  Parking and entrance are around the back of the building.  Go thru the double door to the right in the preschool playground area.  Then straight ahead thru another double door which is the auditorium.

The church graciously allows us to use a large room to meet and sew and provides tables, chairs and coffee! We also are given space to store our donated fabric.

Are there Dues?

The dues are $10.00/year. The Treasurer will collect dues in January.

What Size Quilts are Needed?

Baby quilts should be at least 36" wide, usually square. The maternity ward nurses tell us new parents like larger quilts and many of us make them in the 42"-44" size.

Is Fabric and Batting Available?

There is a large donated fabric stash and some yarn at every meeting for us to use in making the baby quilts. The fabrics and yarn come from donations. Feel free to donate!

Batting is also available. We purchase this through our dues.

Are Patterns Available?

Many months, member volunteers to provide a requested pattern, demonstration, and additional support. It is your choice to work on this pattern, or work on a different project. We have a nice collection in our pattern book which is at each meeting. And the non-copyrighted patterns are available on this website.

What Supplies Should I bring to the Sew Bee Meeting?

Depending on your project, bring your sewing machine and supplies, pattern, fabric (or pick some of our donated fabric that day), and a packed lunch. There are irons, Ironing board, mats and rulers, shared by everyone, so you don't need to bring those unless you want to.

Would You Like to Donate?

We appreciate donations of fabric, quilt batting (cotton), and yarn. Please email us for information on how to donate.
